It is better to tell the truth (even if it hurts) or simply yet, do not participate in activities, conversations, or deceit that will need an explanation that may hurt another.
How does one do that? Well, when we engage in conversations or actions, we usually have a gut feeling that what we are doing / saying is not "right"; and at that moment we have a choice, continue down the wrong path that our gut is telling us "danger, Mr. Robinson", (I think I just dated myself with a Lost in Space quote), or we can make the bold decision to respond differently to the situation and simply not engage and apply that childhood motto
"if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say nothing at all".
32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:32

With all things, there is free will and choices, one does not have to follow this simple way of life which leads to a peaceful and free life; one can stay on their current path, but ask yourself an honest question, how is that working for you in all areas of your life? If it is not "working" try the TRUTH, which always sets one free.
